Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process like?
Microblading and ombre powder are a 2-step process - the initial procedure, and a touch-up 4-6 weeks after. The initial procedure consists of:
-
Consultation and brow design (60 min). During the consultation, together we will design and shape the brows that'll best enhance your natural features and frame your face. Nothing is going to happen until we get it exactly how you want it.
-
Numbing (15 min). A topical anesthetic (5% lidocaine) is applied. We're constantly applying the numbing gel during the procedure as well so that you won't feel a thing.
-
Actual microblading/ombre procedure (60 min)
Why do I need touch-up after the first procedure?
Your brows will initially look dark and vibrant, but during the healing process, its normal to experience pigment loss. The touch-up after 4-6 weeks will completely finish up your new brows! Check out the aftercare/healing process tips for more info!
Is there anything I need to do or know before the procedure?
There are a few things to consider before coming in. Check out our Pre-Treatment page for more info! And of course, feel free to contact me with any questions!
How long does the healing process take?
Everyone heals differently, and it is completely normal to experience some tenderness and swelling immediately following the procedure and for a few days after. You can definitely return to work right away. The pigment will appear darker and more vibrant than how it will actually look when it is healed. It normally takes about 10-14 days to completely heal. You can also check out the aftercare instructions for more info on how to take care of your fresh brows.
Does this mean I never need make-up again?
Unfortunately, results are definitely not guaranteed. There are many factors that affect the healing process that we have no control over (how you take care of your brow tattoo, how your skin heals and retains pigment, etc). Additional sessions (charged accordingly) may be required to get optimal results. The use of brow cosmetic products may still be required to achieve your desired look.
Does it hurt?
People obviously have different thresholds of pain, but rest assured, most clients experience little to no discomfort! We use a topical numbing cream with 5% lidocaine and we're constantly applying numbing gel throughout the process. Some people have compared the process to a scratching or threading sensation.
How long is the procedure?
The procedure takes about 2-3 hours long. Most of it is prep time, because we want to make sure we get it right!
How long does it last?
Although semi-permanent makeup last from 1-3 years, the exact length of time varies depending on proper aftercare, skin type, lifestyle and exposure to the sun. If you have oily skin there is a chance that the pigment will not take on your skin and fading will occur faster. In these cases, you might have to come in more frequently for touch-ups. We can always discuss your options during consultation.
